What is this blog series anyway?
In my work as a counsellor I use (and hear) many words and terms that I imagine people will know and understand. Some of these describe emotions, traits or ways of being and some are sort of ‘pop
psychology’ terms that have sprung up because the internet gives us such easy access to information and language from all over the globe that we adopt new words and phrases into our language all the time.
What I have realised is that sometimes my understanding of a term is different from a client’s, and that it’s worth checking out how they understand it and what meaning they take from it. And I can be surprised when an everyday word for me is one that a client has never heard before and vice-versa.
So, I’m introducing my “What is…anyway?” blog series with the aim of giving you some understanding of terms you might not be sure of. This series will grow over time. Click on the links below to go directly to the blog posts that are available now:
What is self-esteem anyway?
What is imposter syndrome anyway?
What is burnout anyway?
What is gaslighting anyway?
