Hello, my name is Antonia Higgins.
I'm a person-centred counsellor, offering face-to-face counselling from my therapy room in Falkirk town centre. I am a qualified counsellor and Registered Member of BACP. I work with adults and young people of all genders to improve their mental health and emotional wellbeing by building self-esteem and improving personal boundaries.
My own life-changing experiences of being a client drew me to retrain as a counsellor. I experienced for myself the benefits of counselling and the huge differences it can make to self-esteem, confidence and self-acceptance. I believe that counselling is one of the healthiest ways to face life's issues and work through them, and I became passionate about using it to help others to help themselves.
Prior to my training I had a varied career in the private sector and Higher Education which included hospitality, journalism, clerical, administrative and PA roles, office management, publishing and running an online bookshop.
During my training I worked with adult survivors of childhood abuse and victims of domestic abuse for two local charities. Now I continue to work with adult survivors of abuse, as well as counselling adults within an integrated mental health team and working with young people in private practice to improve and manage their wellbeing. I bring all my skills and experience to Tranquillo Counselling and strive to always offer clients the best of me.
I'm interested in positive psychology to improve self-esteem and lead
to authentic living. I believe this fit well with the person-centred approach. I'm also interested in the use of writing in therapy as a tool to expand on your work in the therapy room and give you different ways of exploring what is important to you.
